I was interested in McLuhan's ideas about design being used as propaganda, in other words, how media influences our perceptions (i.e., sight and sound)
"Media, by altering the environment, evoke in us unique ratios of sense perceptions. The extension of any one sense alters the way we think and act-the way we perceive the world." - Marshall L. McLuhan, 1967
This quote is represented through the many visuals that McLuhan has included in this work. It intrigues us as readers and makes us want to learn more about design, not just to make things look appealing, but to show off our beliefs and ideas. This reminds me of Tim Berners-Lee's work; the web is our public domain, where we can express ourselves. Through designs that interact with users through their senses, a simple website can become an extension of ourselves and how we want to be perceived online.
